Tell us about Egon AG. What are you doing exactly?

We develop and distribute the online tool egonline. With it, solar electricity can be sold to tenants and neighbours in buildings with a solar system. This makes solar systems profitable. With just a few clicks, the property management creates the electricity bills for all users in the egonline tool. Heat, water and electric charging stations can also be billed with egonline. We read the measurement data in the building with a data logger and send it to our cloud.

What problem(s) existed at Egon AG before you started working with Digital Republic?

In order for the measurement data from the building to reach our cloud, an internet connection of our data logger in the building is necessary. Especially in older apartment buildings, there is often no internet router in the technical room. The installation of a router and the monthly costs for the internet subscription were not worthwhile for our application.

How does Digital Republic’s offering help you solve these problems? What convinced you?

Our data logger has a SIM card slot and can send the measurement data to our cloud via the mobile phone network instead of via a LAN internet connection. This way, no internet router needs to be installed.

Why did you choose Digital Republic over another provider’s solution?

We have very small amounts of data that are transferred. Digital Republic has a great, affordable flat rate offer for this. We were particularly impressed by Digital Republic’s cockpit. We have an overview of all current subscriptions at all times and can add or cancel new SIM cards quickly and easily.

What’s next for Egon AG?

Especially in the current situation with sharply rising electricity prices, it is important to expand solar energy quickly! Especially on apartment buildings, so that tenants can also benefit from low-cost solar power. We are constantly increasing the user-friendliness of our egonline tool, supporting administrations in setting up billing and educating them about the possibilities of solar installations on rental buildings. A solar system would be profitable for owners and tenants in almost every apartment building!
