eSIM

An eSIM is a digital SIM card that’s already built into your device. That means you no longer need a physical SIM card. This makes using your cell phone plan easier and more flexible.

If you have an eSIM-compatible device, you can create an account in the customer portal and select the “Activate eSIM” option. Choose your plan and enter your personal information. Then scan the QR code that appears, and your eSIM profile will be active.

No. An eSIM is the digital alternative to a traditional physical SIM card, while “dual-SIM” refers to the presence of two SIM slots in a smartphone. However, thanks to the eSIM, your smartphone automatically becomes a dual-SIM device, since the SIM slot for a physical SIM remains free because the eSIM chip is already built in.

Since eSIM-enabled smartphones usually also have a slot for SIM cards, they automatically become dual-SIM devices. For example, with an active eSIM profile and an active physical SIM card in the slot, you can make calls using two phone numbers (e.g., personal and business) or have your voice and data plans run on one of the SIMs, respectively.

An eSIM offers the same features as a regular SIM card. The eSIM can be used with any eSIM-compatible device. Whether it’s a smartphone, tracker, smartwatch, or tablet, more and more devices in Switzerland are eSIM-compatible. You can find a list of eSIM-compatible devices here.

If you accidentally delete your eSIM profile, you can download a new one at any time through the customer portal. To do so, simply follow our instructions on the support portal.

You can activate an eSIM directly on your wearable, which will receive its own phone number. If, on the other hand, you want to connect an Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy Watch, you can use our Watch SIM option as an add-on to your main subscription. Your smartphone and watch will then share the same phone number.
