How Smart Church Tower Technology Works
First of all, please tell me what your role at Muff Kirchturmtechnik is.
I mainly drive the development of our products, but as a member of the Executive Board I also take care of strategic decisions.
Tell us about Muff Kirchturmtechnik. What are you doing exactly?
We develop and distribute building automation solutions throughout Switzerland, mainly for public spaces and buildings. In our hundred-year history, we have specialised in churches.
What problem(s) existed at Muff Kirchturmtechnik, before you started working with Digital Republic?
Historic buildings such as churches often do not have an internet connection. In many cases it does not make economic sense to have an internet line installed, in other cases this is difficult to implement due to the protection of historical monuments.
How does Digital Republic’s offering help you solve these problems? What convinced you?
Digital Republic allows us to use LTE routers in the above-mentioned buildings and thus offer our customers cost-effective and reliable internet access. By controlling the building efficiently (e.g. heating and air conditioning), we not only save a lot of electricity and heating oil, but also reduce the number of trips that had to be made to the building in the past due to the internet access and the mobile app.
Why did you choose Digital Republic over another provider’s solution?
With Digital Republic, we can add SIM cards to stock and manage them in our own system through your API. All our staff have to do is assign the SIM card’s ICCID to the right project and the subscription is automatically activated on the installation date, even if it is months in the future.
This seamless connection to our own software services works insanely well for us and we wouldn’t want to do without it.
Would you recommend Digital Republic to other companies and if so, why?
Absolutely. All my queries so far have been resolved quickly and without fuss. Digital Republic’s service feels practically tailor-made for our use case.
What’s next for Muff Kirchturmtechnik?
With Zepter 365 we offer churches a platform to digitally manage their buildings and operations. We are currently investing significantly in the further development of Zepter 365 in order to be able to move into other markets.

Short interview with Philipp Lütolf from emost
The emost team has set itself the goal of nothing less than the future of mobile power supply.
