Digital Republic Goes Digital Currencies

Digital Republic Goes Digital Currencies

The hype around cryptocurrencies is real. Nevertheless, the possibilities to actually pay with Bitcoin & Co. are often missing in everyday life. A definition that is understandable for the layman is difficult to find – the phenomenon of crypto is and remains abstract. Digital Republic wants to change that and is pleased to be the first Swiss mobile provider to accept cryptocurrencies as an official means of payment and thus make them more suitable for everyday use. From now on, the fees for SIM cards and subscriptions can be paid with cryptos.

Why Digital Republic Believes in Cryptocurrencies

Cryptocurrencies do not only add an option to the payment methods in the web shop, but also fit well with the company’s DNA. Digital Republic’s values – free, fair and progressive – reflect what cryptocurrencies promise: a means of payment that becomes innovative and secure through its decentralized processing.

We think it’s only fair that cryptocurrencies are encrypted in a way that makes manipulation and fraud difficult, unlike regular currencies. We hope you feel free when we integrate a payment method that works independently from intermediaries and big institutions like banks; that guarantees privacy and availability at any time. We think it’s progressive to bring a promising currency based on blockchain technology a little closer to everyday life by accepting it as a means of payment. As a 100% digital provider, we are progressive to bring a promising currency based on blockchain technology a little closer to everyday life by accepting it as a means of payment. As a 100% digital provider, we are happy to be able to rely on this digital means of payment!

How to Pay With Cryptocurrencies

As of now, payments can be made not only with the two most common cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin and Ethereum, but also with Dai, Litecoin, USC Coin and Bitcoin Cash.

You can pay with cryptos directly when ordering a SIM card on the website. Simply select cryptocurrencies as the payment method at checkout. If you want to pay your running subscription costs with cryptocurrencies, it gets a bit more complicated. This is due to the fact that the popular crypto platforms unfortunately do not accept automatic debits. However, you can avoid this circumstance with a pre-charge: We can load a credit for you in your customer account, from which your subscription costs will then be debited monthly. You can find out exactly how this works here in the support portal. Try it out!
